The Curriculum
Classroom Portion:
2 hours:
The classroom portion covers proper
hand position, seating position and we cover basic vehicle dynamics. All
students will view a video to reinforce the concepts in class and learn
what we will be doing on the training course.
Slalom Course:
This course is a serpentine set-up
in a straight line with cones 60 feet apart. It is designed to teach
weight transfer, steering wheel feel and control, throttle control,
throttle oversteer, and judging distance.
Threshold Braking Course:
This course teaches the student to
brake the car safety without getting the car in a full wheel lock-up if
the car is not equipped with ABS brakes. If the student has a car with ABS
brakes it teaches the student how ABS brakes function. The student will
learn “Threshold Braking Techniques” this is where the student will
bring the car’s braking to almost full lock-up learning to stop the car
in the shortest possible distance. This allows the student to brake more
effectively and safely thus reducing reaction time and braking distance
required to stop (thus avoiding a possible crash).
Accident Avoidance Course:
This course teaches emergency
evasive maneuvers and decision-making when confronted with emergencies.
The student will take the concepts of the slalom course and threshold
braking course and put them together to control the car and to “panic
stop” the car in the shortest possible distance.
